AJJ, originally known as Andrew Jackson Jihad, is an American folk-punk band formed in 2004 in Phoenix, Arizona. The band is celebrated for its distinct blend of genres, including folk punk, anti-folk, and experimental music. With lyrics that often touch on themes of shyness, poverty, humanity, and politics, AJJ has carved out a unique space in the contemporary music scene. The founding members, singer and guitarist Sean Bonnette and bassist Ben Gallaty, have remained the only constants in the band’s lineup since its inception. Their first studio album, Candy Cigarettes & Cap Guns, was released in 2005, showcasing their early sound and lyrical depth. The album was well-received and marked the beginning of a prolific career.
